Overview

At Betta Open Ltd (“Betta”), we are committed to advancing open access publishing, enabling researchers to freely share and access high-quality academic content. This policy outlines how copyright and licensing are managed in alignment with international best practices.

Ownership of Copyright

Copyright Transfer: Authors retain copyright but grant Betta the license to publish their article under the terms outlined in this policy upon submission.

Original Work: Authors must confirm that their manuscript is original and that all third-party content permissions have been properly obtained.

Open Access Licensing

Betta Open Publishing (BOP) follows an open-access model where all articles are freely accessible upon publication. Authors can select from the following Creative Commons (CC) licenses:

CC BY (Attribution): Allows reuse and adaptation, including commercial, with proper credit.

CC BY-SA (Attribution-ShareAlike): Allows remixing under identical license terms with attribution.

CC BY-ND (Attribution-NoDerivatives): Allows redistribution without modification, with attribution.

CC BY-NC (Attribution-NonCommercial): Allows adaptation for non-commercial purposes with credit.

CC BY-NC-SA (Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike): Allows non-commercial adaptation under same terms.

CC BY-NC-ND (Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives): Allows sharing without modification for non-commercial use, with attribution.

Default License: If no license is specified, the CC BY license is automatically applied.

Copyright and Moral Rights

Moral Rights: Authors retain moral rights, including attribution and objection to derogatory modification.

Modification of Work: Post-publication updates or corrections will be marked clearly and remain under the same license.

Preprint and Postprint Policy

Preprints: Authors may post preprints on public repositories before or during review without restriction.

Postprints: Authors may share the final published version on repositories or personal sites under the chosen license.

Author’s Rights

Right to Reuse: Authors may reuse their work in future publications with proper citation.

Right to Share: Authors can distribute their work to peers and students according to the license terms.

Right to Archive: Authors may deposit a version of their article in institutional or personal repositories.

Publisher’s Rights

Right to Publish and License: Betta holds the exclusive right to publish and distribute the article under the chosen license.

Right to Promote and Distribute: Betta may promote published works through various media and indexing services.

Third-Party Content and Permissions

Permissions: Authors are responsible for securing permissions for any third-party materials used.

Attribution: Any reused materials must include proper citations and license notices.

Commercial Use and Distribution

Author Awareness: Authors should note that certain licenses permit commercial reuse of their work.

Publisher’s Use: Betta may engage in commercial distribution partnerships consistent with open-access principles.

Retraction, Modification, and Licensing Updates

Retraction: Retracted works remain in the archive with a visible notice explaining the reason.

License Updates: Any future licensing changes apply only to new versions; previous versions retain their original license.

Dispute Resolution

In cases of copyright or licensing disputes, Betta will work with all relevant parties to achieve an equitable resolution in compliance with applicable laws.

Legal Compliance

Betta complies with all applicable copyright and intellectual property laws. Submission of manuscripts implies compliance with these legal standards.
